Message From Minister for Illawarra and Transport
for 24th Illawarra Folk Festival
The Illawarra Folk Festival, now in its 24th year, does a wonderful job of supporting local artists and bringing the region’s musical talent to life. Furthermore it attracts large numbers of visitors to the region which is great for our
local economy. It is one of NSW’s premier music festivals and is organised totally by volunteers.
After 24 years the Illawarra folk festival has developed quite a name for itself and draws crowds from far and wide. There is something for everyone from young to old with 11 venues to choose from. This year, the hard working organisers of the event have organised something very special, a Music Train from Central Station to Bulli on 17 January. A dedicated carriage will not only ensure you travel in comfort in the most eco friendly and safest way with your festival starting from the moment you hop on board with musicians entertaining you for the whole trip.
Seats can be booked through the festival organisers.I wish all the performers the very best, congratulate the volunteers on their efforts and know that all those visiting the festival will have a wonderful time. With such a variety of performances spreading over four big days I encourage you all to soak it up and as per the theme of this year’s festival – discover the world of music.
The Hon David Campbell MP
Minister for Transport
Minister for the Illawarra
