Guinness World Record Attempt

World's Largest Penny (Tin) Whistle Band

Sunday 16 January, Bulli Showground

part of the 2011 Illawarra Folk Festival

All proceeds to Greenacres Disability Services

Back at Jamberoo in 2000 there was an attempt for the Largest Penny (Tin) Whistle Band in the World. On that occasion there were 99!

At the 2010 festival there was another attempt which was 220 whistlers! This did not beat the world record set in Canada in July 2009 of 250.

We're going to try again at the 2011 festival!

Johnny Spillane will once again assist in getting everyone playing the tunes required for the record performance - Scarborough Fair, Click Go The Shears and Molly Malone.

The performance will be during the Festival on Sunday evening, 16 Janaury 2011.

There will be various workshops and rehearsals during the festival and the hope is for over 250 Penny / Tin whistlers.

It will cost $15 per person to register and you need to attend the festival on Sunday to participate (Day Passes are $55, Advance Season Passes are $95 till 78 January).

All proceeds will go to Greenacres Disability Services. You'll get a 'D' whistle if you need it, the music and of course a heap of fun.

Registration will be via the website from http://www.illawarrafolkfestival.com.au/store/ or at the Festival
