In just three years, Koori Voices is becoming a much-loved tradition at the Illawarra Folk Festival – a concert featuring Illawarra and South Coast First Nations performers that enhances the national Indigenous artists that are always a significant part of the program.

The charity night is a great way to kick the festival off. People who may not yet have committed to buying a festival ticket can come along and get a taste of what the festival will be like.

Shalani Thomas is urging aspiring folk musicians, singers and songwriters aged under 26 to apply for the Illawarra Folk Festival’s Youth Tradition Scholarship, and share the experiences that helped turn her into a seasoned folk performer.

The planets have aligned for Illawarra-based First Nations singer Kyarna to perform a key song from her upcoming EP live at the 39th Illawarra Folk Festival.
